Multicity Executive Vice President to Address U.S. Chamber of Commerce on Web-based Communications Technology in Community Development

Chamber to Use Multicity's Communications Product for Online Dialogue

Vienna, Va.—May 28, 2002—Rob Masri, Multicity's Executive Vice President of Corporate Development and General Counsel, will give a presentation on the ways that online communications technology can enhance collaboration and knowledge sharing between government, non-profit, and private sector organizations on community development issues on May 29, at 2:15 p.m., at the 2002 Three-Sector Conference: Promoting Civic Engagement and Development at Home and Abroad. The two-day conference (May 29-30) is hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Center for Corporate Citizenship (CCC), which is located at 1615 H Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. The major goal of the Three-Sector Conference is to promote interaction and coordination between the government, the business community, and non-profit organizations on model practices, volunteer efforts, the more effective delivery of services, and global partnerships.

Multicity's Web-based communications product will facilitate online interaction and feedback during the conference's plenary sessions. This will enable the Chamber to increase participation in the conference and enlarge its audience by allowing people around the world to instantly engage in a dialogue with the panelists. The instant language translation-enabled Multicity chat room converts text conversations into English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian enabling online conference participants to view messages in their native languages and communicate multilingually. This instant, interactive channel also will improve knowledge sharing by accelerating the dissemination of the participants' best ideas and practices. The online forum will be accessible on May 29th on the Chamber's Web site: http://www.uschamber.com.

"We are honored that the Chamber has selected Multicity's online collaboration technology to foster the exchange of ideas and participant engagement on a global level," said Masri. "Providing a Web-based channel for extending the reach and strengthening the bonds of community among groups with shared interests is a core competency of Multicity—and, moreover, is central to our corporate mission."

According to Stephen Jordan, Vice President and Executive Director of the CCC, "Creating communities of interest is the first step in forming partnerships. Multicity is developing technological solutions that can accelerate this process. We are very pleased to be working with them to bring business, community groups, and government agencies together to promote civic renewal and to provide more services to underserved communities."
